Juniors

The Union EMS Juniors program is designed to introduce individuals to a rewarding career in Emergency Medical Services. Participants will have the opportunity to learn alongside fellow Juniors involved in Emergency Services throughout Union County, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This program provides a solid foundation of knowledge and experience for students pursuing medical careers after high school.

Requirements

  • High School student

  • Ages 14-18

  • Maintain at least C average in all classes

Meetings and Activities

Union EMS Juniors meet for two hours every other Monday to explore various aspects of the Emergency Medical Services System. Through hands-on participation and direct interaction with Union EMS Paramedics, each meeting provides a unique opportunity for Juniors to consider EMS as a potential career and to gain insights into healthcare professions in general.

Program Goals

Juniors will have the chance to influence program activities through their attendance and participation. Once they meet the minimum requirements. Juniors will be eligible to schedule ride-alongs with advisors on the ambulance, providing invaluable real-world experience. During monthly meetings, Juniors will learn about:

  • First aid

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) & basic life support

  • Advanced life support concepts

  • Ambulance and equipment operations

  • Teamwork and leadership
